Lifeline Direct Ltd (LLD) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lifeline Australia, delivering the suite of Lifeline's services across ten geographical regions in New South Wales, Victoria and the Northern Territory.

LLD works as a collaborative of local Lifeline Centres sharing administrative and other support services which enables the Centres to work together in areas that were not previously possible. This, all while maintaining a sense of ‘localness’ to operate and serve local communities.

LLD encompasses the Hunter region, Central Coast, Eastern Suburbs-Bondi, New England North West, Northern NSW, Geelong and South West Victoria, Northern and Western Melbourne, and Central Australia in the Northern Territory.

A significant achievement for LLD was the successful integration of several existing clinical helpline services, allowing us to broaden our network as a result of Lifeline Australia’s amalgamation with On The Line Australia (OTLA). Under the amalgamation, OTLA’s workforce of counsellors, its national helpline services, and a range of mental health, counselling, and family violence prevention services were transferred to Lifeline Direct on 1 October 2023. This expansion of services, which included MensLine, the National Suicide Call Back Service, and SuicideLine Victoria, added approximately 90 staff members to LLD working in our Specialist Targeted Services team, increasing our workforce by around one-third.

In July 2024, Lifeline Direct on behalf of Lifeline Australia took on the employment of a specialised team to deliver centralised service support for those working in front line roles in crisis support. This team supports Crisis Supporters nationally 24/7 so they can access on-shift support.

Lifeline Direct will continue to explore opportunity for growth in the future when it aligns with our values and contributes to delivering new services that support an improved journey and outcome for help seekers.
