Lifeline’s Crisis Support team exists to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone. Our experience has shown us that it is through connection that we can find hope. We operate our service 24 hours a day through our phone, text and chat service, to listen without judgement, to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.

Lifeline Direct delivers Lifeline’s 24/7 national crisis support service 13 11 14, through our regional centres across Australia. Our team of staff help train and support Crisis Supporter volunteers, and paid Crisis Supporter work on the phones in ‘hard to fill’ hours to bolster the delivery of service 24/7 to help meet growing demand,

We have exciting opportunities for motivated and qualified professionals, and people who wish to train as Crisis Supporters.

Crisis Support Roles

Lifeline's Crisis Support service provides one-off support for people who are feeling overwhelmed, = having difficulty coping or staying safe. It is confidential one-to-one support, with a trained Lifeline Crisis Supporter.

We have a range of paid roles within the Crisis Support Team; overnight crisis supporters, mentors who support our new trainees to develop their emerging skills; call coaches sho work with crisis supporters to develop their practice; centre supervisors who support reflective practice in group supervision; centre supports and, team leaders who work in centre to manage and support those on the frontline; and trainers who deliver LLA’s accredited Crisis Supporter Worker Training (CSWT).

The qualities we look for in those who join our Crisis Support team are compassion, self-awareness and an openness to learning and feedback. Becoming a Crisis Supporters is a gateway to many more opportunities within the team and a great pathway for career progression.
