People will be able to buy affordable new and pre-loved goods and help fund local suicide prevention services from Lifeline’s new shop in Toukley from May 5.

The shop will sell fashion, accessories, shoes, home decor, electrical goods and books. Proceeds from Lifeline’s shops fund its local suicide prevention and support services.

Lifeline’s Central Coast shop hub manager Renee Moir is busily getting the new store ready for open day.

“We’ve got some beautiful homeware and fashion pieces to help people to create a great look for themselves or their home without spending a lot of money,” Ms Moir said.

“Op shopping is the budget-friendly and environmentally friendly way to buy something for yourself or as a gift,” she said.

“By buying our quality items, shoppers are giving them new life and preventing them from going to landfill.”

Our op shops are vital to Lifeline being there for people in the local community in their time of crisis – to listen and to offer hope.

“Many people don’t realise that local Lifeline centres rely on proceeds from its shops to help fund local contributions to the 13 11 14 service and local services such as free face to face counselling.”

Lifeline is currently trying to meet record demand for its services and support. With many people in the community struggling with the impacts of COVID-19 and flooding, calls to Lifeline are up 25 per cent.

Ms Moir said Lifeline shops run thanks to the generous support of local volunteers.

“We’d love to hear from people who want to serve or work behind the scenes in our shops – even for just a few hours a week.”

“Working in a Lifeline shop is a great way to meet new friends and give back to the local community.”

The new shop is Lifeline’s takes its total number of shops on the Central Coast to four. The other shops are in East Gosford, Gosford and Woy Woy.
