The Push-Up Challenge 2025 Comes to New England & North West: Tamworth, Armidale and Beyond.
This winter, the New England North West region of NSW will join communities across Australia for The Push-Up Challenge 2025, running from 4-26 June. Whether you're in Tamworth, Armidale, Inverell, Gunnedah, or anywhere throughout our region, this is your chance to make a meaningful difference to mental health support services in our communities.
Supporting Our Regional Communities
Mental health matters everywhere, but community initiatives take special significance in regional areas like New England and the North West. The Push-Up Challenge provides a powerful platform for our towns to connect, support each other, and raise vital funds for local mental health services through Lifeline.

What is The Push-Up Challenge?
The 23-day challenge invites participants to complete 3,214 push-ups – a number representing the Australians who died by suicide in 2023. Each day features a different push-up target based on mental health statistics, creating awareness alongside physical activity.
Since launching in 2017, this national event has:
- Achieved over 1 billion collective push-ups
- Engaged more than 600,000 Australians
- Raised over $50 million for mental health services
Why New England North West Needs This Challenge
Our region faces unique mental health challenges:
- Geographic isolation can limit access to services
- Rural communities often experience additional stressors from drought, bushfires and economic pressures
- The tyranny of distance can make seeking help more difficult
By participating in The Push-Up Challenge, residents of Tamworth, Armidale and surrounding communities directly support Lifeline New England's vital work in our region.
