2 days (8:45am-4:30pm)
The course teaches adults how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Course participants learn about adolescent development, the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems in young people, where and how to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
Who can attend a course?
Any interested adult can attend (such as teachers. school support staff, parents, sports coaches, community group leaders and youth workers) though please note this course is not for adolescents to attend. This course is also not a therapy or support group, rather it is an education course to learn how to give first aid to others.
Only 5 registrations will be accepted per organisation for each community Mental Health First Aid workshop. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a dedicated training event for your organisation.
If you would like to request a date or have any questions, please contact us. If you are part of an organisation and would like to book a group session with your team please enquire here.
