We invite individuals, businesses and corporate supporters to volunteer on the morning of Thursday 7th September to help collect funds for Lifeline Geelong as a part of Giving Week.

Volunteers will need to be fit and able to walk/stand for up to 3 hours (7.30am to 10.30am) and safely move between stopped vehicles at the intersection. Closed toes shoes, and hat a must!

Lifeline will supply hi-vis vests, sunscreen, bottled water, and all items needed for collections. There will be a Lifeline supervisor at each location.

Just so you know, all event/ activation volunteers will need to sign a standard agreement form, emergency contacts, etc.

There will be three collection locations:

  • Intersection of Moorabool & Fyans
  • Intersection of Gheringhap & Ryrie
  • Intersection of Surfcoast Hwy & Pioneer

From one of our volunteers last year

I had a memorable experience last year fundraising with my work colleague Maddie for Lifeline. Two things highlighted the experience.

First the generosity of our Geelong Community and businesspeople. In many cases they extended extra-long arms out the car windows or branded trucks to reach out the tins with gold coins and big notes! Other times, they just let the coins slip through the fingers and fall into the pavement as the lights turned green to avoid missing the opportunity!

Secondly, the warm feeling of human connection. There was no car driver who would refuse to donate a compassionate smile to the “Lifeline Tins” in recognition of the work it does to support people in crisis. I would endure many more cold mornings - and encourage colleagues to do so- to give a second chance to those who disappointed, could not find the lost coin anywhere in the car!
