Lifeline's Counselling service is available for anyone who needs it:

Lifeline New England North West offers face-to-face Counselling in Armidale and Video/Phone Counselling across the New England North West and in select flood affected areas in Central West NSW (see full list below).

About the service

Counselling services can help people struggling with personal issues. Lifeline counselling can help you find solutions to improve your mental health and well-being. It can also support you in overcoming emotional, social or behavioural difficulties.

It is Lifeline’s commitment to our community to provide no cost counselling services with minimal waiting periods.

Our counsellors are tertiary trained and accredited professionals. They are also graduates of Lifeline’s Personal Counselling Training Program and must meet Lifeline’s strict annual internal performance and development accreditation standards.

Lifeline can support you to improve your mental health and wellbeing and work with you to overcome emotional, social or behavioural difficulties. Clients will have access to continued support through an assigned counsellor to help provide continuity in care. You don't need a referral to contact our counselling service. This means you can access professional counselling when you are ready and from a place that suits you.

If you are in crisis and need someone to talk to, Lifeline’s crisis support line - 13 11 14 - is available 24/7, Australia-wide

Face-to-face appointments are available in Armidale only, phone and video appointments are available to those in flood affected areas across the New England North West and Central West region. Appointments are available 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

What to expect at your first counselling appointment?

Counselling services can help people struggling with personal issues. Lifeline is proud to be able to provide a counselling service at no cost to the communities we work with.

At the beginning of your first session, a counsellor will help you clarify what is happening for you and identify your goals for counselling. They will work with you to assess your current situation and offer counselling support aimed at improving your mental health and addressing areas of concern. You will be connected with the same counsellor for future sessions.

About our counsellors

To ensure a professional service, all of Lifeline’s counsellors are:

  • Tertiary trained and fully qualified.
  • Practising under the supervision of experienced psychologists and counsellors
