Blended delivery
Mental health first aid is the help given to someone dealing with a mental health problem or crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increased willingness in reaching out for help.
The instructor-led webinar component must be done within 3 months of completing the eLearning component and must be completed on 2 consecutive days. Course participants first complete the interactive self-paced eLearning component that teaches them about mental health problems, mental health crises and skills to offer initial help to an adult developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The follow-on instructor-led webinar session allows participants the opportunity to revise and consolidate knowledge and skills in a group environment, and to apply their skills to specific scenarios. After completing both steps, participants are eligible to complete a short 20 question online exam in order to receive a Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation valid for 3 years.
Attendance at this 2-part online workshop is dependent on your completion of the eLearning component beforehand. This is a requirement by Mental Health First Aid Australia and by Lifeline as the administrators of this training. Your completion is checked beforehand and our training team will be obliged to turn you away from participating if you have not finished the eLearning modules (about 6 hours) at workshop commencement. We do not roll places over to another workshop in these circumstances.
Due to limited seating in each class, all ticket purchases are final.
Only 5 registrations will be accepted per organisation for each community place-by-place workshop. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a dedicated training event for your organisation.
The Blended Mental Health First Aid Course will be hosted on Zoom and include breakout rooms where you will be interacting with other participants. It consists of two parts, each 2 hours on consecutive mornings delivered via interactive virtual classroom. Participants need to be available on both mornings 9.15-12.00 to complete this workshop. When you register for the first part below, you will automatically be booked for the second part. Your individual link will be emailed to you after you register and your workbook will be mailed ahead of this workshop to your preferred address.
